Hi, I'm the professor for this course!
I teach courses primarily in Philosophy of Science and Technology and History of Philosophy here at UT Dallas.
I started reading comics somewhere around 1990 (plus or minus two years). I was originally interested primarily in superhero comics, especially Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, and the X-Men. The Death of Superman was an important event in my comics-reading career.
Some of my favorite comics today include:
- Batman: RIP
- All-Star Superman
- The Dark Knight Returns
- Superman: Red Son
- The Nightly News
- Scott Pilgrim
- Nextwave: Agents of H.A.T.E.
- Runaways
- Golden Age Wonder Woman
- The Question (O'Neil-Cowan version)
- Jim Ottaviani's science comics
- Action Philosophers
- Watchmen
Lately I've been reading Gail Simone's Batgirl, Scott Snyder's Batman, and the new Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
